How They Wear Denim

Friday, June 29, 2012
Among the many '80s trends making a comeback this season (neon, socks with heels, loud prints), denim jackets are among one of our favorites. Two decades ago, the jean jacket was a pop culture phenomenon, with singers like Madonna and Bruce Springsteen sporting the iconic, all-American jacket both in MTV videos and on tour. Today, we're finding a slew of stylish new ways to wear this essential. Whether you prefer a faded, worn-in version or an oversized boyfriend fit, the denim jacket easily integrates into your wardrobe—and we're showing you just How To Wear it with the help of several chic tastemakers! Keira KnightleyA snug, faded version is a chic cover-up for chilly summer nights. While heading to dinner in London in late May, Knightley wore hers over a black button-down dress, and completed her look with brown leather accents, including a belt and cross-body bag.

Best Dressed: The Cannes Film Festival

Cannes Film Festival, it became clear that it took a true original not to succumb to the usual parade of chiffon and high-wattage jewelry. The standout, personality-driven examples? Inès de la Fressange opted to walk the red carpet in a shocking pink Lanvin dress and flat thong sandals while jury member Diane Kruger arrived at a photo call sporting a chic Balmain skirt and top. Herewith, our favorite, most fashion-forward looks so far—plus a few of the best floating tulle concoctions thrown in for good measure.

Whats Hot for Swimwear 2012

I find myself searching for the perfect swim suite. Something to enhance the chest, sexi, yet covered. As a mother of 4, birthed two, 10 pounders. It have the signs of it. So sporting a bikini around is not what I am looking for yet I have a nice body. Just dont need to show it ALL!

Here is what I am finding when I search

styles are HOT HOT HOT! Well, it depends on the designer and your personal style, but we think there is a lot to look forward to in the swimsuit departments around the globe. South America, South of France and USA has some of the better designs I have seen thus far for 2012. Mercedes Fashion Week Swim showed an array of sexy two piece bikinis, one piece bathing suits and tankinis. We even saw some new designs for the flat tummy challenged and swimsuits that can help those who need it in certain areas. Ruch one pieces are a great new design for the tummy because it hides the tummy bulge without using tight spandex material that some times cut off your circulation.
New designs are taking a spin-off some old styles that have been around for the past five years. Cut outs are taking on some new designs and tankinis are becoming sexier. Some designers have incorporated the one shoulder cut that is so popular in dresses and shirts these days. Its interesting that they talk about tankinis being sexier yet, I dont really see one.

J LO!

Jennifer Lopez may have just been crowned the most powerful celebrity in showbiz, but a new Vogue shoot shows she still smolders in a swimsuit.
The triple threat, who reports say is exiting "American Idol," models swimsuits for the June issue of the magazine in a spread shot by photographer Mario Testino. The images show off the 42-year-old's famous curves.
In one shot, Lopez poses sitting down with her hands on her waist. She wears a rust-colored Charlie by Matthew Zink suit, and stares aloofly out of frame.

From Memorial Day (which is quickly approaching) until Labor Day (which sadly marks the end of summer), we try to jam-pack the season with plenty of warm-weather activities, particularly barbeques! We're certain you feel the same way, dear readers, which is why we thought it only appropriate to focus today's WWW Picks story on BBQ-ready pieces. But rather than suggest typical barbeque getups, like worn-in cutoffs and tank tops, we turned to Alexis Mabille's S/S 12 runway show for inspiration, which featured a number of sophisticated outfits that are ideal for an outdoor gathering. For example, the designer's Blue Striped Cotton Poplin Shirt ($414) and High-Waisted Pleated Mini-Shorts ($395) offer a polished, crisp ensemble with a boyish twist, while a fringed belt and strappy shoes lend just the right amount of dramatic flourish. We sourced an array of barbeque-worthy clothing and accessories for you, from a comfortably casual pair of sandals to a cheerful plaid dress, all in a cool blue palette fitting for the summer swelter!1. Guess by Marciano Braided Double Wrap Belt ($68) in WhiteA stylish belt is one of the easiest ways to add an element of visual intrigue to your outfit and define your midsection! Guess by Marciano's braided leather rendition doubles around your waist and features boho-inspired tassels at the end, so it lends any floaty tunic or loose-fitting dress a cool effect. While we think the white version teams well with the season's paler color palette, the belt also comes in versatile black and camel too!2. Tommy Hilfiger Chambray Sun Hat ($38)A sun-shielding chapeau is an absolute necessity for capping off your barbeque outfit! We're fond of Tommy Hilfiger's chambray bucket hat, as its wide brim effectively protects you from the rays. This chic topper would easily pull together a button-down blouse and shorts combo for a simply stylish warm-weather look.3. Lands' End Canvas Madras Dress ($90) in Chambray Blue Multi PlaidFor an easy slip-on-and-go piece, look no further than this madras dress from Lands' End Canvas! The lightweight cotton fabric ensures you won't deflate in the heat, but its striking plaid pattern makes a fashionably bold statement. With a cinched-in waist and full skirt, the frock also boasts a flattering feminine silhouette we simply adore.4. Coach Leather Colorblock New Willis ($298) in B4/Navy/IvoryCoach's leather bag comes with a top handle and longer strap so you can carry it two ways; for the purposes of this story, however, we suggest slinging it over your shoulder so you can mix, mingle, and munch with ease. We particularly love the details of this cross-body carrier, such as the gold hardware and tassel, that lend it a luxe appeal.5. Kain Anwar Stretch-Modal Sweater ($135)Sweet pastel hues are all the rage for spring and summer, which is precisely why we included Kain's soft sweater in our roundup of barbeque must-haves! In a subtle mint green hue, this knit is a cozy topper to slip on when the evening temps start to cool down. A wide scoop-neck makes it the perfect knit to layer over button-down shirts, too!6. Sabre Nevermind LTD Sunglasses ($95) in Light BlueStand out at your backyard barbeque in a pair of Sabre's colored sunnies! Though these shades come in basic black, tortoise, and clear, we love the pale blue version for injecting your look with a little spring color. It's also noteworthy to point out the round lenses and uniquely-shaped bridge, two delightfully quirky details!7. Rag & Bone Tennis Shorts ($290)Jeans may be too warm to wear to a summer barbeque, and a skirt may be too dressy for the occasion, so we've concluded shorts are the best choice! Should you feel the same way, we highly recommend Rag & Bone's high-rise pair, which exudes a polished, preppy vibe. They'd look cool and casual teamed with a simple t-shirt and sandals in warm weather, but come fall, mix them up with a blazer, tights, and boots for a chic layered look.8. Acne Snowdon Blue III Light Blue ($270, 212.450.8300)To channel Alexis Mabille's sophisticated runway look, you'll need the perfect button-down shirt. And the key to nabbing one that's versatile enough for barbeques and beyond is a great fit! Acne's cotton version comes in a straight, slim silhouette with a pin-point collar. Tuck it into high-waisted shorts or skinny jeans for an instantly sharp ensemble! If you seek a more budget-friendly option, we suggest Paul & Shark's Long Sleeve Shirt ($109) or Merona's Women's Breezy Chambray Tunic ($20) in Blue, two equally polished-looking options!9. Madewell The Crisscross Boardwalk Sandal ($60) in Bloomsbury BlueTrue, your WWW editors may be famously fond of wearing heels, but at barbeques, we prefer to keep our footwear as comfortable as possible! With a pop of blue against tan leather, Madewell's strappy sandals offer an au courant option. Additionally, they're just as chic for wearing on a shopping excursion or to brunch with your girlfriends!—Tiffany TseAlexis Mabille runway photo, courtesy of Alexis Mabille.
